I LOVED LOVED this book. I actually love most of Kristen’s books but this one was exceptionally good. The fabulous plot where she wove very accurate historical moments with very accurate PTSD transitions after the war in a gut wrenching love story was superb.

  2. Loreen Notz

This book was amazing ! I love her books but this one really touched me as I was a teenager during the Vietnam war. It touched on the struggles of so many veterans from the war and certainly brought to our attention the struggle felt by the nurses who served. I would highly recommend this read

  3. Judy Worth

Gut wrenching, sobering and ultimately uplifting story of surviving hell and its aftermath. So well written you were almost there. Be prepared to shed a tear and still live with what you have read as you try to go to sleep tonight. A must read!

  4. Christine Wilkins

Kristin Hannah is a favorite author of mine. I have read all her books. The Women brought back so many memories of the Vietnam war era. Not all of them were good. None of my friends wanted to fight in a war for a country they didn’t care about. No one wanted to be drafted.
That said, the men and women who served were not enemies rather they were looked upon as unfortunate individuals.

I general, I thought this book was “OK”. The description of life as a nursein an army hospital was very well done. However, the fact that the woman Frankie was from a wealthy family, a debutante” was not believable on my opinion. I was a student nurse in the 1970s. Believe me, there were no wealthy debutants. Young women went into hospitals and cared for very sick people in training. I would believe it if Frankie were a working class or middle class girl whise brother had been drafted and died.

  6. Kimberly Cantor

Kristin Hannah is a master storyteller and in this book once again she proved herself as an excellent author. Her portrayal of Frankie is masterful. The way she wrote about the atrocities in Vietnam brought the true meaning of what is like to be in a war zone. The disappointment the soldiers felt after they came back from the war zone was vivid and incredibly raw. They sacrificed their lives and they were spat upon when they returned home.
